    Sessions

    WORKSHOP
    SESSION ONE
    5:30-6:20pm

Own the Room: Communicating with Confidence

Whether it’s presenting to a room, speaking up in meetings, or being taken seriously at the table, how you communicate matters. Designed to complement our panel on identity and stereotypes, this interactive session equips attendees with practical tools to show up confidently and authentically, even when nerves or self-doubt try to take the lead. Through short exercises and real-world scenarios, we’ll explore how to hold the room, articulate your value, manage interruptions, and adapt your communication style without sacrificing authenticity.

    What to expect:

    • Practical tools to strengthen confidence and executive presence

    • Techniques to manage nerves and communicate with clarity

    • Guidance on body language, vocal delivery, and message structure

    • Strategies for navigating interruption and unconscious bias

    PANEL
    SESSION TWO
    6:30 – 7:15pm

Out of Spec: Women in Flex who don’t fit the mould

The flex industry prides itself on being inclusive but unspoken expectations still exist around how leaders should look, sound, and behave. This session will unpack how stereotypes around gender, sexuality, race, background, and leadership shape how women are perceived and represented across the flex industry.

The flex industry prides itself on being inclusive but unspoken expectations still exist around how leaders should look, sound, and behave. This session will unpack how stereotypes around gender, sexuality, race, background, and leadership shape how women are perceived and represented across the flex industry.

Together, we’ll explore how women are challenging these assumptions, rewriting the narrative, and building space for more authentic, inclusive leadership. Our panellists will share the moments that tested them, the lessons they learned, and how being different has become a strength, not a setback.

Expect candid conversation, knowing laughs, and practical takeaways. This is about what belonging really looks like in flex, and what happens when you stop trying to fit the model and start changing it.

    We’ll get into:

    • The stereotypes everyone recognises (and how to shut them down)

    • Leading authentically when you don’t fit the expected model

    • Turning difference into an advantage

    • Being “too much”, “not enough”, or somehow both at once
