Rebekah Lloyd-Beere’s journey is one of determination, growth, and refusing to let others define her path. As a Women in Flex ambassador, she brings not only her experience but also her voice, one she’s worked hard to own and use to lift others up.
The Boardroom
Rebekah’s story starts with big ambitions. She stepped into the property world as a receptionist at MediaCity, unaware she was planting the first seed of a thriving Flex offering.
Settling into the front desk wasn’t enough. Her curiosity and drive pushed her to get involved with building snagging, contractor meetings, and viewings.
What followed was a snowball effect. Her initiative helped spark the development of MediaCity’s first Flex spaces, and Rebekah stepped into the role of Community Manager.
Now, she proudly leads the Flex offering across three buildings as Head of Flex.
Breaking Stereotypes, Rewriting the Rules
Climbing the ladder wasn’t always smooth. Rebekah reflects honestly on how her early roles followed her: “Many still saw me as that receptionist.”
Being underestimated meant she had to work twice as hard to prove her place, constantly pushing against outdated perceptions of what leadership looks like. Breaking away from the “good girl” label and being told she wasn’t “corporate enough” was a challenge she met head-on.
In a pivotal leadership moment, Rebekah stepped into a senior role in an area the company wasn’t yet confident in: Flex. She took on the challenge as Head of Flex, determined to lead with purpose, not conformity.
Instead of backing down, she found strength through allies on the senior leadership team, telling us she felt “seen, valued, and realised that what I had to say really mattered”.
Breaking down stereotypes takes time. But as Rebekah’s story shows, experience combined with passion and a willingness to keep showing up, will only make you more confident in the seat you’ve already earned at the table. The more you own it, the more others start to see it too.
Finding and Using Her Voice
Today, Rebekah is confident in what she brings to the table: “When I own my voice, I refuse to dilute my message just to fit in… For me, it’s about balancing strength with self-awareness. I know my voice matters—not in spite of being a woman.”
She’s passionate about mentorship, inclusion, and helping others find their voice too, especially those who might not fit the traditional corporate mould. “I didn’t have the privilege of private education, and let me tell you, I definitely had the strongest accent in the office!”
Lessons from Risk and Resilience
Like many leaders, Rebekah has taken risks that didn’t pan out. Early in her fit-out days, she worked on redesigning older floors, only to see them lack interest. The real disappointment being that “I hadn’t voiced my own thoughts and feelings during the process”, she admits. Not to say the wins that come from failed attempts aren’t just as important, Rebekah claims, “This helped me build the confidence to speak up and share my ideas about what would and wouldn’t work.”
It’s this resilience that keeps her going even when doubt creeps in. “I found it helpful to take a step back and really think about all the great things my team and I have accomplished together.”
Redefining Work-Life Balance in Flex
Rebekah is realistic but optimistic about work-life balance in the coworking world. “it takes a little work.”, Sometimes that means working longer hours on set days to allow for shorter, more restful days. Ultimately, “Finding balance is definitely achievable” and it pays off to keep “work-life balance in check!”
Why Women in Flex Matters
As Rebekah, one of our ambassadors, explains:”Women in Flex supports and celebrates skills like collaboration, communication, empathy, and attention to detail—qualities that are so important for creating spaces that are welcoming and centred around the needs of users. By embracing these diverse talents, the property sector becomes more innovative and responsive, making it better equipped to meet the unique needs of the people and places we serve.”
Rebekah is passionate about creating space for others. “I shouldn’t hog the mic; instead, I should share it and lift others up along the way.” she adds, reflecting on the core purpose of the Women in Flex programme.
Being an Ambassador
For Rebekah, being a Women in Flex ambassador is about much more than a title; it’s about creating real change.
“For me, it’s a chance to use my voice to make a difference, grow alongside others, and be part of a positive change in the property world.”
If you’re passionate about supporting growth and positive change in the industry, we’d love you to be part of the journey.
